Professor Matthew Jones started his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training with Professor Evaldo Lima in 2004. During this time in Long Beach California, he was fortunate enough to train with Rodrigo Gracie, Royce Gracie and had the honor of meeting the legendary Helio Gracie. This experience greatly influenced Professor Matt’s value in Self Defense, healthy diet and learning in a positive atmosphere. Within a year he was helping out with the kids classes and eventually the adults. Professor Matt has competed and coached in countless tournaments over the years. He came to Texas in 2015 to teach full time and has been doing this ever since.
THE DIAMONDBACK PHILOSOPHY
Here at Diamondback Jiu-Jitsu we pride ourselves on a clean and safe environment for our students to learn and grow. In our kids program the boys and girls will learn self confidence, respect and will get in shape. The same can be said for the adults! Each week Professor Matt has a different message for the kids. Some of these message topics include (but are not limited to): “Respect” “Honesty” “Listen to your parents” and “how to deal with bullying” Though our name is new to the BJJ scene Professor Matt has over 17 years of experience and has a school culture where higher rank students help the newcomers. We are a team and have a family friendly atmosphere. We train hard and students have the option to compete in tournaments.
